It will provide clinical staff across Tasmania with access to up-to-date patient information in an aim to optimise efficiency, avoid duplication, reduce risk, and reduce time spent collecting patient information. It also ensures a single state-wide repository of information on patient medications enabling the DHHS to build common patient medication profiles and apply common business rules. The change involved moving over 6.5 million records from an existing iSOFT system and the installation of the new system, so that Tasmania now has single database of patient records instead of three separate databases.
